The New England Spring Flower Show is the longest-running plant and flower show in the world and Boston’s most popular spring event.Every year in March, the show features hundreds of flowers and plants and draws thousands of attendees. The first shows were held in 1829 in Boston and exhibited various fruits and vegetables. Since its inception the New England Spring Flower Show has always been organized by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to encouraging the science and practice of horticulture, but also developing the public's enjoyment, appreciation, and understanding of plants and the environment.
The New England Spring Flower Showwas last held in 2009 because the Massachusetts Horticultural Society faced financial and fiscal difficulties, but the Paragon Group of Needham took over the show in 2010 and has been organizing it since then under the name of the Boston Flower and Garden Show. The new show also includes many of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s organizers and has been very popular with visitors.
The Boston Flower and Garden Showtakes place at the Seaport World trade Center for five days, and features many beautiful garden displays by some of the best landscape professionals and artists in the Boston area and across the country. There are also thousands of different plants, flowers, shrubs, herbs and seeds fromarea nurseries.
In addition, those looking to expand their gardens and outdoor spaces and make them unique can browse the hundreds of different items and discover the latest in gardening products. Attendees can purchase everything they need from gardening gloves, containers, tools, greenhouses, sheds, furniture, tools for irrigation and landscaping, but also furniture and green and sustainable products. To enhance their gardens and outdoor spaces, visitors can also choose from the wide variety of outdoor artwork, paintings, glass, dried flowers and wreaths, sculpture and pottery. To look their best while gardening, visitors can also check out the garden shoes and bags, floral accessories and jewelry.
The Boston Flower and Garden Show is also a great place to learn everything there is to know about gardening. There are dozens of workshops and demonstrations by well-known landscape professionals and gardeners but also garden writers and local chefs. Tickets to the Boston Flower and Garden Show cost $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 years and older, $10 for children ages 6 to 17 and entry is free for children under 6. Visitors can purchase tickets either online or at the box office of the Seaport World Trade Center.
